Perched in the rolling hills of a semi-rural setting, this private home was given a contemporary facelift using materials reflective of the landscape. Avant-garde furniture, art and objects were layered into a restrained palette, creating a deliberate tension that energises the monochrome interior.
Working within the existing architecture, subtle planning changes improved flow between open and private spaces, allowing the home to expand for entertaining while remaining intimate for family life. Grey polished plaster dissolves boundaries between architecture and decoration on the ground floor, while a bold infusion of colour in the kitchen anchors garden views. The master bedroom is wrapped in custom polished plaster, including a two-toned pivot door – a surprising detail.
Sculptural furnishings soften formal edges, while curated artworks and commissioned outdoor sculptures tie the home to both its setting and the client’s evolving collection. As a result, the design feels contemporary and uncomplicated allowing it to blend easily with the landscape.
