Untouched since the 1980s and hampered by poor planning, Glen Iris Residence offered the chance to completely rework a heritage Edwardian home. The vision was to honour its character while creating a seamless dialogue between past and present.
What began as a modest rear renovation evolved into a complete ground-floor redesign. From the master suite and study to kitchen and open-plan living; every space was redesigned for flow and function. The reconfigured living zone became the social heart, anchored by a generous marble island.
Materiality strikes a balance between eras: barley twist legs nod to tradition, while a panelled brass door speaks to a modern boldness. A palette of rose and forest green, drawn from stained-glass windows, threads through rooms, complemented by decorative lighting that plays a starring role in shaping mood and whimsy. Custom furnishings and bespoke pieces complete this richly layered home – an elegant conversation between heritage and contemporary design.
