This double-storey corner terrace posed a classic challenge but also a rare chance to reimagine the conventional terrace layout, replacing under-utilised rooms with purposeful spaces.

The floor plan was comprehensively reworked: the second bedroom became a master suite with walk-in robe and ensuite; the third bedroom was shifted to the rear; and a central bathroom with rumpus was positioned to overlook the courtyard. On the ground floor, the rear section was extended to the boundary to create much needed expansion of the laundry, kitchen and pantry. A contemporary edge was introduced with steel-framed doors and windows throughout, anchored by a striking arched window to the master.

Equally important was weaving the clients’ burgeoning art collection into the design. Their pieces became part of the home’s rhythm, balanced by a curated mix of classic furniture, rugs and objects. The result is a house that resolves spatial challenges while celebrating art, materiality and the character of its inhabitants.
